I thought today’s post would be a little different from the norm. Occasionally I checkout stuff on YouTube that friends and family send me. Most are just the current news or news spins happening around the planet, others are about cats and furry creatures. As you know when you view a video suggested videos pop up. Over a course of time I’ve noticed several YouTube videos with animation. Some are quite good and are deserving of perhaps a feature film. One such film touched my heart the other day and I thought I would share it. It’s call Sintel and the link is in the title. Just click on it and enjoy…. SPOILER ALERT… have some tissues handy….
We’re into fall now and from checking various weather channel places it looks like it might be a very chilly one for a lot of folks here in the good old USA. Elsewhere, depends if you’re north of the equator or south. Having said that, just wanted to give a little update as to what’s going on with my art and books as such.
In regards to art. I now have 20 pieces at Fine Art America where one can purchase my art in various venues from canvas, prints and even coffee mugs. Gadgets are a great thing to get your art in places that it normally would not be found. I know of one local animal hospital that has several pieces of my art. There’s a local café, which my wife and I frequent, and they now have a canvas print and a couple of coffee mugs with the same art. Very cool. Anyway, in regards to art pieces and venues to obtain them, I thought it would be good to have another Discount. Since Christmas is coming up and is always a good time to purchase things for friends and family, I’m offering a 25% Discount at Fine Art America for my artwork. You read that correctly, 25% off the retail price. Take a look, check your Christmas lists, and spend a little time shopping. Enjoy.
On the book front. The first book of the Silverwind Files, The Long Dark Night, is scheduled for release on Jan 16, 2020. It will be available both in print and ebook format. I will post a link where you can pre-order the book in both formats very soon. I’ll also post a little blurb about the book as it gets closer to the release date. So stay tuned.
|Once Upon a Bowl of Oatmeal (paperback cover)|
My latest writing project is very different from anything else I’ve written. It’s a cookbook! But those who know how much I love fantasy might not be surprised that this cookbook ended up with a fantasy theme. Many of the recipes have names inspired by fairy tales or fantasy stories, and I love the hints of fantasy in the two covers designed by the awesome Savannah Jezowski.
Why two different covers? The paperback version of the cookbook is an unusual shape, due to the unusual recipe format (more information about that below), so it couldn’t share a cover with the ebook.
|Once Upon a Bowl of Oatmeal (ebook cover)|
Some people might be surprised, though, that the whole book is focused on oatmeal. After all, isn’t oatmeal that boring goop that nobody really eats if there’s anything else available?
NOT ANYMORE! In this book, you’ll find recipes for delectable dishes like creamy mango coconut spice oatmeal, cinnamon almond oatmeal, blueberry cream cheese oatmeal, and (my personal favorite:) caramel banana oatmeal with peanut butter. (Okay, so that one is a little closer to the dessert end of the spectrum than the porridge end!)
Take a look at the book blurb below for more details:

And now for a free oatmeal recipe in the unique format I use in Once Upon a Bowl of Oatmeal:

About the Author:
Annie Douglass Lima considers herself fortunate to have traveled in twenty different countries and lived in four of them. A fifth-grade teacher in her “other” life, she loves reading to her students and sparking their imaginations. Her books include science fiction, fantasy, YA action and adventure novels, a puppet script, anthologies of her students’ poetry, Bible verse coloring and activity books, and now a cookbook. When she isn’t teaching, writing, or experimenting with new flavors of oatmeal, Annie can often be found sipping spiced chai or pomegranate green tea in exotic locations, some of which exist in this world.
